The Sport for Inclusion and Empowerment (SIE) project is a two‑year Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Sport initiative that aims to increase access to grassroots sport for marginalized youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, and Spain, using sport as a tool for social inclusion, personal empowerment, and community cohesion.
Main objectives
The project defines three clear, measurable objectives:
- Increase participation: Engage at least 500 marginalized young people in structured local, national, and international sports activities.
- Build capacities: Develop 5 inclusive coaching toolkits and train at least 250 coaches, youth workers, and sports educators in inclusive methods.
- Influence systems: Engage policymakers and key stakeholders via roundtables, recommendations, and a final policy brief to strengthen inclusive sports policies and governance.
Work packages and results
- WP1 – Project Implementation and Coordination (IFS EMMAUS): Overall project, financial and quality management, risk management, reporting, and final evaluation.
- WP2 – Research & Development of Educational Materials (Verlab Institute): Needs assessment on barriers to sport, stakeholder roundtables, an inclusive sports toolkit, digital learning materials, and a policy recommendations report.
- WP3 –Local, National, and International Inclusive Sport Events (SZSR FBIH & CHANE): Four local/national inclusive tournaments, two international exchange events, workshops on sport and inclusion, and an impact report capturing best practices.
- WP4 – Impact, Visibility,& Dissemination (InnovED & YRCI): Communication strategy, website and social media, multimedia storytelling, multiplier events, a final conference, and a policy/sustainability strategy.
