Description
The “Echoes of Memory” (ECHOES) project aims to preserve the testimonies of Holocaust survivors and counter rising Holocaust distortion and antisemitism across Europe by integrating cutting-edge AI technology into educational practices. By creating an AI-powered chatbot based on real survivor narratives, the project offers dynamic, personalized, and immersive learning experiences that engage a broad spectrum of learners, especially younger generations.
This transnational initiative involves partners from Greece, Serbia, Poland, Romania, and Lithuania, representing Jewish communities, educational institutions, and historical research organizations. Together, they will establish a governance model that ensures ethical, culturally sensitive, and historically accurate use of digital testimonies in formal and informal educational settings.
ECHOES not only safeguards Holocaust memory in the post-survivor era but also contributes to building a tolerant and inclusive European society by promoting empathy, critical historical thinking, and civic engagement. The project aligns with EU strategic priorities on combating antisemitism, preserving democratic values, and fostering inclusive education.
